CURE TREATMENT PREVENTION GENERAL

Why can't I have a stem cell transplant?

Simply because it is a very risky, life-threatening operation. 40% of people who undergo a stem cell transplant do not survive the operation.

That’s why it is not a good idea to offer this operation to everyone with HIV. Only people with leukaemia, a deadly blood cancer, are offered this operation. And only if a suitable donor can be found for them.
