CURE TREATMENT PREVENTION GENERAL

What does it mean:

ddC

ddC stands for '2′,3′-Dideoxycytidine' and is also known as zalcitabine. It is a drug that was developed in the 1960s as a possible treatment for cancer, but in 1992 it started to be used to treat HIV.

Because the treatment causes severe side effects (nerve pain in particular) it is now no longer prescribed.
